What is Veterinary Assurance?

You may have heard of the term ‘clinical governance’, which in the veterinary world means ‘a continuing process of reflection, analysis and improvement in professional practice for the benefit of the animal patient and the client owner’. Farm assurance schemes utilise veterinary expertise to set high standards of animal health and welfare and quality assurance and in veterinary practice now we are looking at Quality Improvement even more, focussing on the combined efforts of the whole team to make changes that will lead to better outcomes, better systems and better professional development and learning. In the NHS assurance is about getting the right balance of strategy, risk and control; and adding value by eliminating duplication of effort and resources, reducing the burden of bureaucracy and providing a central point of expertise. This is why we use the term Veterinary Assurance.

In order to uphold these standards of ‘assurance’, and to support organisations, it can include:

Operational Working Dog First Aid Training (plus training for search & rescue, humanitarian/disaster and expedition medics)

Annual ‘Fit for Duty’ certification, including vaccinations and anti-parasite medications

Veterinary second opinion

Procurement and retirement support

Remote support

Exports

First aid kits

Rehabilitation support
